Your Personal Ayurvedic Food Program
In Ayurveda, diet is one of the main areas we can work with to keep ourselves healthy and in balance. In this workshop we will explore our personal Dosha. We will look at Ayurvedic Nutrition and the six tastes. With this information we will learn about foods that can either support, aggravate or have a neutral effect upon us. In addition, we will discuss ways that we can bring healthy eating choices into our busy lives. An ayurvedic lunch of Kitchari will be served.

‘The body of one who uses oil massage regularly does not become affected much even if subjected to accidental injuries or strenuous work. By using oil massage daily, a person endowed with pleasant touch, trimmed body parts and becomes strong, charming, and least affected by old age’ Charaka Samhita Vol 1You will learn ancient techniques to keep your skin young and healthy. We’ll discuss the benefits of applying various natural plant oils with self-massage to relieve daily stress of the nervous system and muscle tension. What to bring: Please be prepared to dampen your garments with oil at class. Wear comfortable clothing, such as loose fitting shorts and an old T-shirt or tank top. Bathing suits may also be worn under your clothing. Bring an old towel, one hand towel, and a yoga mat, if you have one.
You will receive a small bottleof organic massage oil for use during nth eclass and a hand out to get you started in your daily Abhyunga routine.

Come and explore the ancient healing practice of Ayurveda. Ayur-veda means the ‘science of life’ and is the oldest holistic healing system, established in India 5000 years ago. It seeks to re-establish harmony between all aspects of a persons life. Ayurveda is based on the 5 elements: If you are Vata dosha, you have more of the ether and air qualities heightened in you, if you are Pitta it will be fire and water, and if you are Kapha it will be earth and water. Through this introduction, you will become more familiar with your dosha and learn many simple techniques to help you in balance your constitution naturally. Ayurveda uses herbs, diet, habit and lifestyle alterations like yoga and meditation practices, colors and more to help bring you to your natural and personal state of well being.
